#7 The Beechworth Lunatic Asylum

One of the worst places to end up years ago in
Australia was Beechworth Lunatic Asylum. This psychiatric hospital was home to thousands of residents, and only a few were actually insane many believe. All that was needed to put someone into the asylum was two doctor signatures and the signature of a relative. One story tells of a young boy, who was admitted at the age of 12 and died in the asylum when he was 84.

Naturally, there are a lot of restless spirits at the Beechworth Lunatic Asylum, and the ghost tours are only for those who have brave hearts.

Some stories that many visitors relate about the ghostly happenings of this asylum include one visitor who took a picture of the building one night and when they saw it on their computer, there was the face of a woman in the window. A face that was not there before when the picture was taken.

Often on the tours, people will report seeing a very serious man following them, with two men who are joking with each other walking behind the man.

Currently, it operates as a hotel and many people report footsteps in the hallway when there is no one there, and tapping on the glass outside of the window.
